Upon arrival in Phnom Penh, you will meet by our guide at the airport and transfer to your downtown hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you may have a short city tour in the afternoon or simply relax in the hotel after check-in. In the evening, we will have a tour briefing and a welcome dinner featuring Khmer delicacies.

In the morning, you will visit the National Museum, Royal Palace & Silver Pagoda.

• The Royal Palace was built in 1866 by King Norodom and is now home to His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Norodom Sihanouk Mony, King of Cambodia.
• The Silver Pagoda is located within the Royal Palace compound, so named because of its floor, which is made up of 5,000 silver tiles; among the treasures are a solid gold Buddha encrusted with 9,584 diamonds weighing 90 kg, and a small 17th century emerald and baccarat crystal Buddha.
• The National Museum, home to the world's finest collection of Khmer sculpture 

In the afternoon, we continue for an educational tour to Toul Sleng Museum (S-21) and Killing field. You also have a fun experience on a traditional cyclo ride to Wat Phnom and Independence Monument.

Today we will travel to Siem Reap on our private vehicle (5-6 hours drive). Enroute, we will visit  the village of Kampong Thom to see key archeological sites, starting with Sambor Prei Kuk, perhaps the most important grouping of pre-Angkorian monuments in Cambodia.

Before the rise of the Angkor, this was the capital of Chenla during the sixth century, the city was known as Isanapura. Today over 100 small temple ruins sit peacefully in a forest setting. Explore the main central complex and gain an insight into the early architectural styles of Cambodia. On 08 July 2017, UNESCO World Heritage Committee listed Sambor Prei Kuk Temple as a World Heritage Site - the third Khmer monument inscribed on the World Heritage List.

Continue to visit archeological “Naga Bridge” at Kompong Kdei.

Today you are invited to a Local Pagoda where you will met the resident monks and offer alms. This will be followed by a Buddhist blessing ceremony.

After the ceremony, we will visit Angkor Thom (Bayon Temple), the former capital of the great Khmer empire.

You will enter through the South Gate, decorated with four giant stone faces – an instantly recognizable image and example of classical Khmer craftsmanship. Your tour of the intriguing perfectly square, ancient walled city includes a stop at Baphuon (a sanctuary dedicated to Brahmanism); Phimeanakas Temple, where kings as a ceremonial stage. You expert guide will also take you to visit the amazingly well-detailed bas reliefs at the Terrace of the Leper King

This afternoon, visit the legendary Angkor Wat until sunset, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

As the symbol and the soul of the Khmer people, the magnificent Angkor Wat temple was built during the reign of King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century. Historians believe that many of the fascinating reliefs and stone carvings immortalise many of the mighty king’s wars. Images of Apsara dances decorate the five famous towers which replicate the universe according to Hindo mythology.

Please note: visitors are required to wear respectful attire when visiting temples and religious sites, covering shoulders and knees (no short trousers). Only the Bakan tower inside Angkor Wat is closed on Buddhist Sabbath Days, religious holidays and various days in the Lunar Calendar. Tonight, enjoy a memorable dinner accompanied by a traditional Apsara dance performance.

Today, we will visit the great Tonle Sap Lake, and take a boat excursion to explore the village of Kompong Phhluk on stilts.

Explore this great ecosystem by way of canoeing and hear the calls of the birds or macaque monkeys while observing the forest beneath the lake’s surface, you’ll see the Buddhist temple is standing on the island with some beautiful Buddhist life painting on the ceiling.

Return to town to visit the school of fine art “Le Artisan D'Angkor”.

Travel to Camp Tbeng – traditional private longhouse accommodation and retreat style campsite nestled in the tranquil village of Tbeng, only a short 30 minute drive from Siem Reap. Upon arrival you will be introduced to the campsite , before checking in the traditional long house.

On the first day of Community program, you will visit a local family and learn all about Cambodian rice noodle production. You will be instructed by local worker how to do rice milking, rice pounding and completed the pieces of rice noodle. Then learn how to make the fish soup with coconut milk with many different ingredients such as saffron, lemon grass etc. The cooked noodle will be served to local students and teachers to enjoy as lunch. Return to the campsite for lunch, before having another Khmer class.

In the afternoon, we will have a leisure bike ride on the countryside road, before learning the traditional way of rice farming. After dinner, enjoy Khmer live music/instruments with folk songs and dancing around the camp fire.

Today, enjoy having the breakfast at the campsite, then transfer to the local school for learning services program. Your students will be split into two small groups, one for soft working and one for hardworking skills.

Soft Skills: Interaction with local kids

1) Facilitating English and Maths classes , teaching English to local students via pictures or other teaching material (brought along by the overseas students) or songs and games, storytelling etc.

2) Hygiene workshop/Hygiene classes for local student topics covered brushing their teeth, wash hands, drinking boiled water etc

3) Art Craft skills class

4) Donate of stationary: English simple picture books, pens, ruler, notebook, etc

Hard Skills: Improving Facilities for this school

Working under the instructions of local builder/carpenter, the students will work on an specific project such as renovating toilets, building library, replanting the school garden, fixing the football court etc. For safety reason, we won’t let the students do anything deemed unsafe. The students will learn how to mix cement, build a brick wall, cut wood by handsaw, or polish a wall before painting (masks and gloves provided).  

At noon, enjoy a lunch break at the campsite then take a brief Khmer class. We will then continue our service work at the school .

Head back to the campsite in the afternoon to freshen up. In the evening, enjoy dinner followed by a Khmer traditional dancing class.

Breakfast at the campsite and then transfer to the habitat building/restoration for locals. Poverty rates are high in rural Cambodia, where many people are still living on less than $1 a day. In many case, house is rudimentary at best and many homes are fragile structures with palm leaf walls, tin/palm leaf roof and dirt floors; many do not survive to protect from the rainstorms.

Building a new house: New house building is solid and designed to last at least 15 years and more. The houses we build are between four meters by five meters, with concrete footings, wooden sides and floorboards and a tin roof. They include one enclosed room and one room with open sides. The space underneath the house is often used as a daily living and cooking area. Each house takes about four days to build and on the fifth day a Khmer house blessing ceremony is held before the family moves into it. We employ three builders, who work under the supervision of the main builder.

House restoration: The village headman with the assistance of Camp Tbeng team chose a home eligible for improvement . Each restoration house takes from one to three days to build then the last day has a blessing ceremony is held before the family moves into it. We employ three builders, who work under the supervision of the main builder.

Note: Building a new house or restoring a house will take days. The volunteer work planned for the group is a sample only for students to experience house building in remote Cambodian areas . Lunch will be flexible at the project site or at the campsite.

After breakfast at the campsite, we will be transferred to the local school to continue the learning services program. 

Another day begins, have breakfast at the campsite then transfer to the local school to continue the learning services program for soft and hard skills. Before the local students return their home at noon, we will have a farewell ceremony to say goodbye to the local students

Return to the campsite for lunch and packing for checking out. Transfer back to Siem Reap or your departure flight. Trip ends.
