Our Sri Lanka school tours can be tailored to meet any of your learning objective. Sri Lanka offers the chance for students to discover a vibrant culture, and total immersion in pristine ecosystems and landscapes, from the central mountains fringed with large forests, to tropical coastlines. It is the perfect destination for studies in biology, ecology, and environmental conservation.

This school trip includes a jeep safari through Yala National Park to observe the wildlife in their natural habitat and a visit to Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage to learn about conservation and breeding programs.  With sightseeing to all the must see sites, an authentic cooking class, and enriching community service projects, this school tour provides hands on learning that reaches far beyond the classroom wall!

On arrival your group will be welcomed at the airport and transferred to your hotel.

Once you have settled in your group will have a tour briefing and then be taken out to enjoy a welcome dinner.

Today students have the opportunity to take part in a Community Service Program. The aim of our community service program is to provide students with the opportunity to engage with local communities and make a real difference to the communities they visit. A wide range of community service programs are available for students, including but not limiting to the below:

  • Fixing or building houses
  • Fixing classrooms or kindergartens
  • Painting classrooms
  • Planning trees
  • Installing a water tank or clean water facilities
  • Construction of playgrounds to encourage play based learning activities

Participation in these projects can build a feeling of self-worth and a sense of local community and allows students to develop a deeper understanding and knowledge while gaining new skills and memorable experiences.

Today students will continue the community service program from the previous day.

Overnight in Colombo.

This morning we visit the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage. The Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage was established in 1975 to care for abandoned and wounded elephants. Over time the number of elephants have increased, and include baby elephants that have been brought from various areas of Sri Lanka and as a result of the captive breeding programme.

Afterwards, we continue traveling to Sigiriya, which is home to the 5th century Rock Fortress, also known as "Lion Rock". Students will spend the afternoon discovering the fortress with an experienced local guide. The fortress is one of the most dramatic sites in Sri Lanka and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1982.

This morning we travel to Polonnaruwa which became Sri Lanka’s second capital in the 11th century. We will spend our morning in the ancient city that was built alongside a large artificial lake and is home to well-preserved ruins of palaces, bathing pools, stupas, and exquisite rock sculptures of Buddha at the Gal Vihara.

In the afternoon, we explore Anuradhapura’s ruins which are among the most ancient and fascinating of all Southern Asia. Anuradhapura, one of the ancient capitals of Sri Lanka, is a UNESCO World Heritage-listed city known for its many ruins of temples, ancient pools and dagobas.

Overnight in Sigiriya.

This morning we travel to Kandy. On the way we will stop to explore the Dambulla Rock Temple. The cave monastery of Dambulla has been a place of Buddhist worship for over 2,000 years. The temple is made up of five cave sanctuaries filled with some of Sri Lanka’s most precious and sacred Buddha images, in all sizes, poses and postures, in the form of both murals and statues.

In the afternoon we visit the Matale spice garden to discover the many spices that Sri Lanka is famous for. Students will learn about the variety of spices and see how they are grown and processed.

Overnight in Kandy.

Today students will enjoy a sightseeing tour of Kandy. Kandy is the Cultural City of Sri Lanka and is known for its natural beauty and traditional ways.

We stop to visit the Botanical Gardens, famous for their beautiful flowers, trees, and orchids. With 60 hectares of land, this is Sri Lanka’s largest and most impressive Botanical Gardens.

We also stop at the Temple of the Tooth, which houses an important Buddhist Relic, a tooth of the Buddha. A noticeable feature of the Temple is the golden canopy that makes it easily identifiable from far away.

Overnight in Kandy.

After breakfast, we travel to Yala. On the way we will visit the Horton Plains and then explore the Yala National Park. Yala National Park is home to over 44 different kinds of mammals and 215 species of birds, which freely roam around the park. 

By safari jeep students will view the different kinds of animals which include elephants, spotted deers, and leopards just to name a few! This safari will be a highlight of their school tour to Sri Lanka!

Today we travel back to Colombo. On arrival we check into our hotel.

In the afternoon we tour the city of Colombo with our local guide. We explore the Fort district, the Dutch Church, Kelaniya Buddhist Temple,and Colombo's finest museum. 

We finish the day with a market tour and then a hands-on cooking class where students will have a complete Sri Lankan cultural and gastronomic experience. 

Overnight on Colombo.

This morning after breakfast your group will be transferred to the airport. End of our services.

A Visa is required to visit Sri Lanka in the form of an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA). There is a non-refundable processing fee for some categories of the ETA. Make sure you select the correct visa category for your circumstances. If you engage in activities that breach your visa conditions, you could be detained or deported.

Pay close attention to the date your visa expires – you could receive a large fine if you overstay your visa.

If you're travelling from a country with yellow fever or cholera, you'll need to present evidence that you've received the relevant immunisation(s). You'll also need a yellow fever vaccination certificate if you're arriving from, or have transited through, affected African and Latin American countries within nine days of entry to Sri Lanka. Babies under one year old are exempt.

Make sure your passport is valid for at least six months from the date you intend to return to Australia.
